2012-2013 ASUSU Officers

Last week we took our last official picture as a council. I guess its safe to say that we're not fans of getting our picture taken. We wanted to get it done as soon as possible and with our luck, it took ten times longer than it should have because people wouldn't keep their head straight, they'd close their eyes, they'd make faces...ya know. We're ten year olds.
I'm so glad I ran for student government in college. It's changed my life for the better and it's opened up new doors. Man alive, I love these hooligans. We had a spectacular year. Oh, and we also got a good picture. Finally :)

Parachute. The Ready Set. He Is We

Utah State had its annual End of the Year Bash. It started out with High Stakes Bingo on Thursday, three concerts at the Spectrum on Friday, and PoBev on Saturday. I must say, the programmers did an excellent job this year! High Stakes Bingo is a favorite amongst the Aggies. It's an event that fills the ballroom with excited students ready to win some pretty niiiice stuff, i.e. big screen TV, snow cone machine, bikes, grills, gift cards, etc. I think it's a lot more fun to see people go on stage and dance/sing/act their way into winning extra stuff. You see, I have no luck when it comes to winning things at these events. I try. Oh, I try. Never win.
I was fortunate enough to get two "Meet and Greet" passes for Friday's concerts. Sam and I met He Is We and The Ready Set. (I had to Google The Ready Set...had to know who we were meeting ya know. Best fan award goes to...not us). We had met He Is We a couple years ago, so it was fun to see them again and see how their band has changed. That probably sounded like we're on a first name basis. We're not. But we have met them before. I'm a big fan. A funny story about them, I asked one of the guys if they traveled on a bus or what. Nope, they definitely travel in a van. And they take turns driving. Love them even more.
The Ready Set consists of the main singer and the band. He looks reeeeally young. Like 14. Very nice guy. For some reason their equipment got lost and they had to play acoustic. Huge bummer seeing as how they are a pretty upbeat/jumpy band. And if you're still wondering, he's 23.
The overall concert was one of the best I've ever been to. Maybe I'm biased because it was in the Spectrum or because we met them or because we had awesome seats. But it really was top notch.
Here are some pictures from the night as well as small clips of my favorite songs by them.

Did I mention that it's finals week? Here we go.

To my daughter (s),

I want to tell you about an experience I had a couple years ago.

I was sitting in the computer lab when a dear friend and co-worker approached me; she needed some software assistance and I was happy to help. We walked over to her computer and started chatting away.

She then looked at me in the eyes and asked "Why are you always happy?"

It took me aback at first, I guess I've never been asked that so in my mind I was trying to come up with a clever answer. I'm a happy girl. I have a wonderful life, I have an amazing family, I live in a beautiful place, I have the best of friends, I can eat food (I mean that's a biggie), I attend a fantastic University, I live five minutes away from the Temple, I have the gospel in my life.

I have the gospel in my life.

That's it.

I sure hope that the gospel has brought you the happiness that it has brought me! A kind of happiness that doesn't go away. A kind of happiness that will make others fall in love with you and want to be with you. Never let a day go by without being happy. Even in your times of sorrow you will be able to find happiness in the gospel. Oh, what a lovely thought. Now go and share some of your happiness!
